[Pro 24:5 NKJV] A wise man [is] strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength;A wise man is indeed strong. Not necessarily in muscles, though.
[Pro 24:6 NKJV] For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors [there is] safety.Are you struggling with addiction? Nobody can fight that fight for you, but you can get plenty of counselors to help you win that war. I would suggest you get Jesus as your primary counselor.
[Pro 24:7 NKJV] Wisdom [is] too lofty for a fool; He does not open his mouth in the gate.
[Pro 24:8 NKJV] He who plots to do evil Will be called a schemer.
You know this is true. I'm sure you can think of somebody you know who is a schemer. That person might even be you!
[Pro 24:9 NKJV] The devising of foolishness [is] sin, And the scoffer [is] an abomination to men.
[Pro 24:10 NKJV] [If] you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength [is] small.We all give in to our temptations at some point, don't we? I know for myself when this happens, it is because I chose to take my eyes off of Jesus and just do what I want because I wanted it. I am sure you can relate to this in your own life. When we give in, we are indeed showing how weak we truly are without Jesus. Imagine being in an arm wrestling match, and you decide to take it easy. What is the result? Ka-pow! When you decide to give in, you are being weak.
[Pro 24:11 NKJV] Deliver [those who] are drawn toward death, And hold back [those] stumbling to the slaughter.This is where you can exercise some strength. Do you know a friend who is struggling? Be their strength when they are weak. But be careful for your own sake that you do not get pulled into temptation together.
[Pro 24:12 NKJV] If you say, "Surely we did not know this," Does not He who weighs the hearts consider [it]? He who keeps your soul, does He [not] know [it]? And will He [not] render to [each] man according to his deeds?
Believe it! God will render to each man according to his deeds. And this is for the believer. The unbeliever will awaken in Hell, and that's your reward. Fire.
[Pro 24:13 NKJV] My son, eat honey because [it is] good, And the honeycomb [which is] sweet to your taste;
[Pro 24:14 NKJV] So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] to your soul; If you have found [it], there is a prospect, And your hope will not be cut off.
[Pro 24:15 NKJV] Do not lie in wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; Do not plunder his resting place;
[Pro 24:16 NKJV] For a righteous [man] may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
The strength of a righteous man does not keep him from falling, it gives him strength to rise back up. The wicked fall, and just stay fallen. Are you just going to stay there?
Life will knock you down. Addictions will knock you down. Wrong decisions will knock you down. Enemies will knock you down. Friends and family will knock you down. Both the righteous and the wicked get knocked down. But you know who rises up? The righteous man. Do not let failure keep you down. Do not let the Devil con you into believing you are past God's reach, or somehow beyond Jesus' love.
Go on down to verse 28
[Pro 24:28 NKJV] Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, For would you deceive with your lips?
[Pro 24:29 NKJV] Do not say, "I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work."
It is hard to do, but we need to leave vengeance and payback in the hand of God. When you try to take it into your own hands, it backfires.
[Pro 24:30 NKJV] I went by the field of the lazy [man], And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;
[Pro 24:31 NKJV] And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down.
[Pro 24:32 NKJV] When I saw [it], I considered [it] well; I looked on [it and] received instruction:
[Pro 24:33 NKJV] A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest;
[Pro 24:34 NKJV] So shall your poverty come [like] a prowler, And your need like an armed man.
Let's face it, being lazy is not exactly being strong.
[1Pe 5:8 NKJV] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
The Devil wants to pull down and keep you defeated. He wants to keep you from being strong.
So where do you get real Godly strength and wisdom from?
[Jam 1:5 NKJV] If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
[Jam 1:6 NKJV] But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
[Jam 1:7 NKJV] For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
[Jam 1:8 NKJV] [he is] a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
You want help? For real? The get some! Do you need help? Cry out to God, "I need help! I need wisdom. I cannot win this battle on my own."
Let Jesus rule the house of your heart. Let Jesus be the strong man, and you'll find your part a lot easier. Let Him be your strength, and you will have power to defeat the Devil and the bondage he has over you.
[Rev 3:20 NKJV] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
[Luk 11:21 NKJV] "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace.
If Jesus lives in your heart, the Devil won't be able to do a thing about it. Jesus is at the door. He is knocking. He won't be knocking the door in, you have to let him in. Are you ready to open that door? Are you ready to be strong by letting Jesus be strong? If so, then ask Him to live in your house, to live in your heart, to live in your life, take it over, take ownership, take it all. What do you have to lose? Show your wisdom, let Jesus be your strength.
