On May 2, 2012, Junior Seau, best known as a linebacker for the San Diego Chargers, was found dead by his girlfriend at his home in Oceanside, California with a gunshot wound to the chest, apparently self-inflicted. His football career spanned 20 years. He had his own clothing line, his own restaurant, and even started a foundation to help troubled youth. Truly, if there was somebody who could be said to "have it all", he was one of those people. Yet, it did not satisfy.
Junior had it all, but what ever "all" was, it wasn't enough. What he needed was Jesus.
2 Corinthians 7:10 KJV - For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Matthew 16:26 KJV - For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
We can only guess as to what drove Junior Seau to take his own life. Did he no longer find joy in life? Was he unable to adjust to his post-NFL career?
Even if you don't take your own life, you won't be around much longer. Nobody knows how many days they have to live.
James 4:14 KJV - Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
So, knowing that we're all going to die someday, what in life is truly worth going after?
Matthew 13:45-46 KJV - Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
Jesus is worth more than anything else there is.
"Knowing God" is not sufficient.
James 2:19 KJV - Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
There is a Heaven, and there is a Hell. Jesus explains in the parable of the wheat and the tares:
Matthew 13:24-30 KJV - Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.and the explanation
Matthew 13:36-43 KJV - Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
You are not going to Heaven automatically. You have to choose.
Romans 3:23 KJV -  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Jesus is calling us to turn from our evil ways and live with Him instead.
Luke 5:32 KJV - I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Luke 15:7 KJV - I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
If your name is not written in the Book of Life, you are bound for Hell.
Revelation 20:12-15 KJV - And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Jesus loves you, wants to be part of your life right now, and wants to spend eternity with you!
John 6:51 KJV - I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
John 7:37 KJV - In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
John 10:9 KJV - I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
John 14:1-6 KJV - Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
And well, folks, that's it. What more could you possibly want?
